Happy International Flamenco Day! To celebrate, I’m sharing photos from a wonderful evening in Granada, Spain our friends provided to our family when we visited in 2013.

Srta. Guerrero began dancing when she was three. Her mother taught flamenco at Carmen de las Cuevas. Patricia Guerrero is one of the foremost flamenco dancers in Spain. I recommend you see her footwork in a video of her dancing, by searching for her name. Seeing her live was a transformative experience. She is the essence of real flamenco.

Great post! Flamenco is for me a very important art form…it is complete, artistically speaking, as it has the passion, the emotions and the music, only to add the dance, which makes it incredible!

Gracias! Yes, it is one of my favorite dances that I’ve seen. Flamenco feels very spiritual and alive. Olé!

Almost my first experience of flamenco was earlier this year, in Granada. The talent displayed is wonderful, of course, but perhaps it’s the sheer depth of emotion from all the participants which makes viewing a performance such an intimate , touching occasion. This was what happened to us …. https://margaret21.com/2019/03/01/flamenco/
