Shadows Play with the Light

Shadows Play with the Light  (en español abajo)

At times
the eternal dance

The fiction
of our divisions

The union
of equal halves

The fear
of bright or dark

We unify
our social orbits

The belief
in our humanity

Our households
separate no more

Luz crepuscular   Foto: Rebecca Cuningham

Las sombras juegan con la luz

A veces
el baile eterno
se cristaliza

La ficción
de nuestras divisiones
se quebra

Una unión
de opuestos iguales

El miedo
de la luz y de la sombra

Se unen
nuestras órbitas sociales

La creencia
en nuestra humanidad

Nuestros hogares
inseparables e
intercambiables son.

  1. Stay safe over there! It’s all getting a bit hairy, isn’t it? 🙂 🙂 I was trying to think what those shapes reminded me of. Sugar mice doesn’t seem a very good guess, does it?

    1. Thanks for commenting. Interesting, what are sugar mice? Reveal: This is a photo of the light seeping through the top of our curtains, after passing through the slightly rippled 100 year old window panes in our bedroom. Thanks for guessing. : )

    1. Thank you very much, Neri. The poem began to stream into my mind Friday morning and I repeated the first few phrases to myself aloud and grabbed a pen. Grateful when the quetzal bird muse is present.
