We were out for a drive, Eagle and I, three miles from our house up hill and down dale. I was focused on the road when Eagle piped up from the back seat, “Wow, look! Two cranes!”
“Where?”
“Right there. Right there!” they said. I imagine Eagle was pointing wildly, but I couldn’t see. I missed the cranes too. “Take a left here,” Eagle said. “Here!”
“Okay, done.”
“See!?!” And thanks to Eagle, I saw.

Who has the eagle eyes in your family? Do you brake for beauty?

Very cool! I’m always walking so it’s easier and safer to brake for beauty. 🙂

So surprising to see them up close, they’re far larger than herons.

I love seeing Sandhill Cranea! We don’t have them around where I live, but we have Great Blue Herons and Black-Crowned Night Herons, and they are great to glimpse in the wild, too.

Each sighting seems a special visitation. I’d never seen them before living in Wisconsin. I adore herons as well.

They grow to be taller than you or I! People have called them “prehistoric” and it about fits.
