It’s Six Word Saturday, I may be stretching the rules by using numerals. In November and December, our days are quite short in Madison; from a bit after 7 am to 4:25 pm (16:25)! That contrasts with June, when we have from 5:20 am to 8:40 pm (20:40). Last weekend when we started a hike at 3 pm, it felt like we had plenty of time. We enjoyed walking through the Cherokee Marsh as a family. Then the pink and orange sky reminded us the sun’s descent comes early.

The moon was two days shy of full.
I love the fluff of cattails, but I resisted temptation.

Fake Flamenco 
I love that beautiful bleached winter light. Don’t expect any sympathy for your short days however. Today, ours will last from 8.10 – 15.44. Grrr.

Those soft colours are so pretty! It gets dark here around 5.30 at the moment. Not long till the shortest day now 🙂 🙂

I remember living in France (latitude being more north than Los Angeles), and I recall it being completely dark by 4:00pm. Absolutely mind-boggling, since the earliest it sets in southern California is 5:00pm (and even then, that’s still early)! The days might be shorter, but they give an incentive to get up early to enjoy the day more so than later. At least, until summertime…

The span of the sun really marks the cultural rhythms of a place. I remember playing outside with neighbors in Minneapolis until soo late (9 pm) when I was a child. Thanks for your addition to the conversation!

I understand about the early sunset. Not long, though, and the days will be getting longer. I really like theshot with the cattails, but I enjoyed them all.

Thank you, yes yours would be the words of summer. We are well thanks. Hope Oz is less dry than last year. Just saw a documentary about saving wombats, koalas and kangaroos after the 2019 fires.
