Stormy weather; we’ve had a rainy week in Madison. Yesterday afternoon, a poppy opened despite the drizzle. Today we have the first sunny day all week. I feel the sun rays through the window as I write and it feels great.

I am taking 10 days off starting tomorrow. A family funeral calls me away, for a relative on my mom’s side of the family. He lived a full life, has three wonderful adult children and nine beautiful grandchildren. But I will miss him. I’m working on a poem to read at the funeral. I hope I finish in time.

Have a good first week of June! See you on June 8th.

Sorry for your loss, Rebecca. I do love poppies and this one is a beauty, especially with the raindrops. We had some in our garden in Ohio many years ago and I miss them. I’m still in Illinois and we had rain and clouds all day yesterday as well.

Beautiful photo of the poppy – I’m trying to grow some also but not sure if they will push up. I planted a few black poppies.
