The tree’s outer cortex is heavily ridged, it barks before it bites. This cottonwood will show its bark knot and send its seeds far and wide while I finish writing the article on the khipus, the information laden knotted strings of the Inka.

Taking Eagle to camp today, I saw these majestic cottonwoods.

I couldn’t resist photographing their beautiful rough bark.

The trees are handsome, but their seeds can be pesky…
Thanks for visiting! Tune in tomorrow for an ancient tale of Inka messages. ¡Olé! –Rebecca

Cottonwoods are so pretty! Yes, in certain times of the year the seeds blow all over the place like it’s snowing! 🙂

Thanks for your comments! They are tall and give great shade. It does look like snowing when their seeds float around! I liked your spiral tree today.
