As a farewell to summer in the northern hemisphere and a welcome to spring in the southern hemisphere, let’s write a short poem on flowers in free verse or haiku. You may choose to write about one of the photos below, your own photo or memory of a flower. Example poem:
Prairie Flower Café
Spiky purple haired rest stop
Back garden neon sign ablaze; EAT, arrow
satisfied butterfly customers; refueling complete

I have a picture of a fading flower, and it has its own beauty compared with its gaudier younger cousins, still in full bloom. So let’s have a go …
The flower’s bright bloom
crumples and fades, and hangs
delicate as gauze.
