Saw this spot-on safety cone at Lakewinds Food Co-op in Minneapolis last weekend. I wonder if people take a silly sign more seriously?

The first banana cone was for small hazards, the larger cone is for wintery slush disaster zones.

Thanks to slapstick humor, nothing gives us a cautious pause like a banana peel!

It’s strange way to warn people. Perhaps the bright yellow is more attractive or the fact that one can slip on a banana 🍌 peel

Thanks for your comments, Sadje. I’ve read that yellow and black is the color combination most easily seen by the human eye. I think you’re right, it’s a nod to the banana peel joke.

You’re welcome Rebecca. I’ve slipped on a banana peel and had to have surgery to take out a broken meniscus!

Oh no, Sadje! So sorry to hear that. Are you walking well again?

It’s okay Rebecca as after having both the meniscus removed from my right knee, I got replacement surgery 10 years ago. It’s working very well. Thanks 🙏🏼

Glad to hear the knee replacement went well! Bananas seem more scary than funny after your story.

I’ve seen those here in Scotland, too. They work! And make people smile or chat about them. Win win, really.

Thanks for your comments, Britta! Cool to know they are in Scotland as well. I agree with your positive assessment. Now I wonder who invented them!

They look like yellow penguins to me. Penguins are experts with wet, cold, icy, slippery conditions. I would definitely take the signs seriously. 😉

Penguins would make for cute cones as well! Good thinking, Susan.

I think these stand out more than the usual yellow and black warning signs, Rebecca. Although would chuckling at these signs alert one to the actual hazard? ⚠️ 🙂

Thanks for your comment, Tom. Yes, laughter makes it memorable. Only falling makes it more memorable, sad to say.

What a clever idea! One must wonder, though, how many people make the connection. LOL!

Thanks, Janet. That would make an interesting survey!

How clever! Given its banana-like structure, people will at least pay it some attention and make sure to step out of the way!

Good find. I also wondered how many “get” the banana part. But I love the whimsy of it.

It’s extra funny because the figure is slipping on a peel.
