Walking with my good friend recently, we saw this garage and did a double take! This was not your average two car garage. Just how many cars did they own?

I’ve never seen a two tier garage outside a spy movie; certainly they’re not common in Wisconsin cities and suburbs. My next question is how does it work exactly? I want to drive the upper right hand car (guessing it’s a convertible) once the snow melts and the roads are clean one Saturday morning. What is the process?
08:00 am Move SUV to street parking
08:05 am Uncover lower right Porsche
08:10 am Check all pockets for keys
08:25 am Tear house apart. Discover keys in lower pants pocket 15 minutes later
08:40 am Drive Porsche round Robin Hood’s barn to work out the engine
08:45 am Nod at attractive folks waving at you and your car…
09:05 am Head home and park Porsche on left side of the driveway
09:10 am Lower the hydraulic lift to access the upper right vehicle.
09:15 am Lift arm is noisy, add oil to machinery and to your own hands.
09:20 am Wash your hands with lava soap to keep cover and classic car clean.
09:35 am Uncover classic car: 1958 Corvette
09:45 am Sigh at her beauty.
10:00 am Drive off lowered platform onto driveway
10:05 am Touch up the wax with a soft cloth
10:15 am Check tire pressure
10: 20 am Find straw in exhaust pipe
10: 25 am Remove mouse nest from tailpipe
10:45 am Wash hands with lava soap
10:55 am Open the convertible top
11:00 am Hop in the car and take it for a spin around the block. Time elapsed: 3 hours.
11:05 am Call your partner to come out for a drive. Receive their praise for shaving an hour off the process from the fall. Drive until it rains or you get hungry.

How do you know it is two tier? Maybe there are a couple of other cars stashed away up there… lol, it might be an even longer process to extract an upper car.

Thanks. Trent! I admit I wondered the same thing. The garage was unusually tall… Three tiers?

What a hectic and tedious process! Haha! Loved your story

… or decide it’s all too much trouble and catch the bus.

I regretfully and ironically say that single rider vehicles are the Unitedstatesian way.

I get that. But everyone will have to learn to change, I think. It’s a habit worth acquiring!

First they’d have to run more that one bus a day through the suburbs…

Tell me about it. We only have four. Though they have recently started an on-demand service, which is a game-changer.

Sounds great. Our mayor is improving our bus services in Madison as well. 🙂

I once saw a garage with a full floor to ceiling window that faced the street to display the Rolls Royce inside. Vanity?

Oh this is hilarious Rebecca. I am impressed that you took the time to think through how to access each car. Brilliant. 🤣

Thanks, Suzette! I’m a bit of a car nut, but we’re a one vehicle family. Guess I was living vicariously! 😉

Damn, that’s hi-tech! I’ve never seen a contraption like this, although I will say that it’s very economical, haha! But to be fair, I don’t know how economical it is to have four-plus cars (unless you’re a large family)! Very strange, but very cool!

I know, it only costs $10,000 for this space saving machine! 😉

Yes, I wouldn’t have thought it possible. If the garage door had not been open, I wouldn’t have known.

I am trying to think twice before driving — do I really need to use the car for this? If I lived in a city like New York, with lots of public transportation, I would be thrilled to give up my car.

Yes, we lived a year without a car in Santiago, Chile very happily.

Who wouldn’t? After I went to Singapore a few years ago, I find most western public transportation systems seriously lacking… 😉

So true, but here in the US particularly! Our town could really use light rail, and a train station to connect to Amtrack.

Politicians, local, state or national, don’t really get it, do they?

They think creating transportation costs money, but it’s better and cheaper to fix than the smog that’s heating the earth.

Agreed. Or converting empty office space (Home office has had some impact) into housing. That would be even much cheaper.
