Thanks, Poets, for your great participation in the Poetry Challenge this month! This July we have entries from eleven poets from seven countries. The two years since the inception of the Poetry Challenge have been a lot of fun. I meet interesting writers from around the world and have the opportunity to read their poetry. So great to meet all of you. This month we wrote cuartetos about the sources of our inspirations. Enjoy these poems as a celebration of the two years of the Poetry Challenge! You inspire me.
2do aniversario del Reto poético de julio
Gracias, poetas por su participación en el Reto poético este mes. Este julio tenemos entradas de once poetas de siete países. Estos últimos dos años, desde el principio del Reto poético eran muy divertidos. Conozco a escritores interestantes de todo el mundo y tengo la oportunidad de leer su poesía. Mucho gusto conocerles a tod@s. Este mes escribimos cuartetos sobre las fuentes de nuestras inspiraciones. Disfruta estos poemas como una celebración de los dos años del Reto poético. Scotland
Inspiration cuarteto
Odd words, beginnings, form. That snail,
slugging all the way to the top
of my mock orange tree. Detail,
walks, moss. Pencils canter, gallop.

Rain swirled and the lizard hopped out of the mud with a splash,
smell of lilies buoyed from the heart of her gloomy flowerbed.
She stepped out and let the raindrops crown her maze of eyelash,
rain or whipping storm she decided to live before she was dead.

Great work in translating these wonderful poems. I was struck by the range of references to light in several poems. Amazing what writing does for the heart and mind.

Oh! You didn’t include mine. I don’t blame you: I didn’t feel I’d quite ‘hit the spot’ even though I knew what I was trying to say!. But I do love these challenges, and am just planning a post of my own to celebrate this great monthly idea of yours. The two year anniversary seems to be the best time to do it.

What a great and diverse anthology! I’m so pleased to see my snail picture, I have the utmost respect for that resilient and determined creature! And now, my snail even speaks Spanish. That’s my favourite part of your poetry challenges, Rebecca. I love to read my poems in Spanish. My Spanish is rather basic, so this is a learning opportunity for me. Thanks for putting up interesting prompts every month. Much appreciated!!!

So sorry, Rebecca. I was just having a quick skeg though at that time, knowing I’d have time to come back later, and saw, as I thought, just one poem from England. Put it down to a heat addled brain please! Just off to thing about a post in Praise of Poetry Challenges, and others – not just you – who help keep the creative brain vaguely afloat!

5 more months! I’m almost at 9k views and have almost 100 followers 🥰. I’m really proud of it!! If you have any advice on how I can get my blog out there more I’d love to hear it! Idk how I’m “doing” compared to others but hopefully that many views is a good number. 🥰
