Part 3; the final stretch for the Olbrich Home Garden Tour. The second day of the tour my friend and I drove south to Oregon, Wisconsin once more. First, we visited a well organized flower farm. Each area around the house was arranged with care. The gardens along the side of the house were decorated with whimsical pottery accents, plates and even a teapot pouring a cuppa!
We met the two women farmers who greeted us from their folding chairs set up in the shade on the side of the house.
They had set up a beautiful back patio with comfortable chairs set up for a circle of conversation.
The farmers were growing several crops for themselves; cucumbers, squash, beans, and parsley.
We found so many details to see, that our time evaporated. When we set off to the next garden, we arrived as they were closing up at 3:05 pm… Fortunately, we saved for last Meadow View Park, open until 10 pm.
The park has an extensive meadow of wildflowers. We took the opportunity to take a walk on the paths around it.
I like seeing the wild purple bergamot. We have a red colored cultivar in our garden.
Me gusta ver bergamot silvestre morado. Tenemos en casa una variación roja.
So long, prairie, so long, house tour!
¡Hasta la vista, prado! ¡Hasta la vista jardines bonitos!

I love coreopsis, partly because it always makes me think of Thurber’s Walter Mitty and “coreopsis of the liver.”

I like coreopsis too. Such a happy color. I’d forgotten that line in Walter Mitty!
