Yes, foraging mushrooms takes expert knowledge I do not have. Since many are so deadly one bite is enough to kill us, I agree.

Some of those bracket fungi look very old don’t they? After a while they get to become as hard as the tree itself. Thanks for joining in the challenge Rebecca!

Yes, I wonder what their growth rate is. Thanks for hosting.

Not beautiful, I can say that
I’ve tasted it once, nothing that I would like to have again 🍄

I guess it depends on the person’s point of view for both. Mushrooms can be tasty in dal.

I am scared to try that

The secret is a mild flavored mushroom, sautéed in ghee or butter.

I think it’s about how you cook.
It’s not common here, so people don’t know how to cook.
It will taste like cauliflower 😂

A mushroom that tastes like cauliflower? Wonder what kind of mushroom it was that you ate?!

White mushroom
It’s only varient here
My mother made it like cauliflower, haha
So I didn’t like it.
I like cauliflower, it’s sweet

I like your photos, and most all photos of fungi and mushrooms and toadstools. Fascinating and creepy at the same time.
And I do like eating the safe ones from the grocery store! haha. 🙂

Thanks, Michele. I’ve heard “chicken of the woods” is straightforward to identify and tasty.

You are welcome! That sounds familiar… I believe my daughter had some a while back. I probably passed since I don’t eat meat. 😂

Lovely photos. I know too little about them to forage, but the ones I buy taste so good that I wish I could learn more about them

Thanks, Sadje. Are mushrooms common in Pakistani cuisine?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No not common. But people do know how to find edible ones and use them in their food as protein sources. I use them in pasta and pizza etc.

They are oddly beautiful and an amazing life form. As for the traditional shaped ones and toadstools, I always have an overwhelming urge to bend down to pat them. They bring out the fairy in me. If I were just a wee bit smaller I could bounce on them and watch them boing!! These are great shots! Denzil also is inspirational with photos.
