Which plants are peeking in advance?

What was the most beautiful flower, bird or tree you saw outside (or through the window) this week? ¡Olé! –Rebecca

It is jumping the gun in Minneapolis, to see beautiful flowers outside in March. I shall continue to look.

In England, they have daffodils already, in Portugal they’re planting vegetables. When I see those photos, I understand better how you must feel! Spring is welcome to show its flowery face at any time. 🙂

The daffodils have arrived in force this week. And of course, high winds too. It happens every year without fail.

Not lots of flowers here, Rebecca, and in the desert, not the usual spring flowers like these that I’ve always enjoyed in the Midwest. However, our prickly pear cactus is starting to get fruit, the citrus trees are budding, and bushes are flowering as well.

Thanks for the flower report, Janet. Do you harvest the prickly pears? I did one year and it was delicious. Which kinds of citrus do you grow? My uncle had a wonderful grapefruit tree at his former house in Phoenix.

I don’t harvest them. We don’t have any citrus trees at the house, but there are orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees around here. There used to be lots of citrus groves but housing and commercial buildings have pushed them out.

In Massachusetts, so far I’ve seen crocus, snowdrops, and the ever resilient hellabore. Oh. And pussywillows.

There is a tree outside my bedroom window, and every morning and evening, hundreds of birds sit in the tree, singing their sweet melodic tunes! I love it! ❤
