My good friend and I paddled on Lake Wingra this week. Here are photos of what we saw. Many water lilies were blooming.

A small creek leads away from the lake. Cattails line the entrance.

We enjoy kayaking down the channel to see the baby ducks.

The ducks are nearly mature. The drakes have a bit more molting left to get their signature green mallard heads.

Days I paddle seem like the epitome of summer.

Cee what nature photographers are up to. What could be cheerier than Cee’s Flower of the Day? #FOTD

What peaceful photos. We have several mallard families near us, and quite a few moorhens too. Oh, and greylag geese. Always geese.

Thank you, Margaret. Why must we call them fowl when they are so lovely? ; )

Your post brought to mind the poem “The Peace of Wild Things” by Wendell Berry that forms part of my Sunday poetry feature for July.

How tranquil! The water lilies are reminiscent of those in Monet’s Gardens in Giverny, France. Glad you had a wonderful time. 🙂

Thanks, Carol Anne. The surface of the water was punctuated by small white feathers the teenage ducks had removed so their adult plumage could grow in!
